Okay, Internets. I need your advice.

After my marriage broke up, I gave my engagement ring and wedding ring to my mom and said, "Just put them somewhere safe." I literally didn't want them in my house. The thought of them sitting in a drawer somewhere where I could get to them just punched me in the gut. So for four years now, my mom's had them in some "undisclosed location" at her house.

This weekend, I asked for them back. I'm ready to do something with them, but I don't know what. I mean, I could sell them and get the cash. Or I could repurpose the diamond and the platinum (perhaps adding another diamond or two) and make myself some kick ass right hand ring. Or I could repurpose just the diamond and sell the platinum. I dunno...

I forgot how goddamned gorgeous the damn thing was until I pulled it out of mothballs. Man, it's pretty. So what should I do?

while I honestly hate the idea of a "right hand ring" as to me it is just a marketing ploy to get women to buy yet another overpriced ring in the guise of "taking back the power", I think in this case making it a right hand ring is cool. Since you already own it and all.

Rich's mom wears a collection of like, three wedding and engagement rings on her right hand, all on one finger, and it looks AWESOME. It really does.

So yeah, mix it up and make something fun out of it. Joe Koen jewelers (downtown and by the old house) is a great place to get stuff remade.....

I'm all for remastering and mixing it up.

As an interesting parallel, that's exactly what I'm doing to mine. It's at the jeweler's as we speak. And that nasty ass nugget ring that my mom turned her wedding ring from my father into- it's at the jeweler's too. Happy early fucking birthday to me.

Do the right hand ring. My sister has one and it is kick-ass. And Karla is right. Joe Koen and Sons is the best. They did my sister's ring and my engagement ring.

That is one pretty ring, and it will be even prettier once it's repurposed!!!

I say "not a ring." You'll have a new one of those soon enough. Maybe a drop or just sell the thing and buy something special for yourself. Too many bad memories.
