My Stepson is a Badass.
Not only is he one of the skaters featured in this video, he also helped film it. He is fearless and talented and kind and funny, and he's only 11 1/2 years old.
Gosh, I'm going to sound the the no-fun mom, but don't any of these kids wear helmets? Our neighbor's teenager died of a head injury this spring doing a skateboard trick he'd done a million times before. The doctors say he would have survived had he been wearing a helmet. You can google the story; his name was Heath Eiland.
SUS: I know. It drives his dad and me nuts. But you go to the skatepark, and no one but the littlest kids are wearing helmets.
Remember how when we were kids no one EVER wore helmets when bicycling? And now most folks do? Well, my hope is that skateboarding is heading in that direction. But I doubt it.
