The meme stolen from about half of the people in that list over there on the right.
1. How do you like your eggs?
My favorite way? Deviled. My most frequently ordered/prepared way? Scrambled.
2. How do you take your coffee/tea?
Tea, straight up. Coffee, no thank you.
3. Favorite breakfast food:
Potato, egg, cheese and jalapeno bkfst. taco with pico de gallo. Heaven on freakin' Earth.
4. Peanut butter:
Yeah...I'm sort of weird about peanut butter. But if I have to have it, creamy please, and all natural...you know, like you have to stir it up to mix all the oil and shit together.
5. What kind of dressing on your salad?
Any kind of vinagrette. Aside from a Greek salad, I deplore creamy dressings.
6. Coke or Pepsi?
Coke. Not diet Coke; the real thing.
7. You're feeling lazy. What do you make?
Bean and cheese soft tacos or a sandwich.
8. You're feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?
All veggie, sans bell peppers.
9. You feel like cooking. What do you make?
Oh man...pretty much anything. I'm all about entrees, sides, and salads. But I'm not good with desserts and baking. My favorite thing to prepare for a semi-fancy meal is a seared, high quality tuna steak, a really good salad, and some sort of starchy side. For a simple supper, a good entree salad with tons of fresh ingredients.
10. Do any foods bring back good memories?
King Ranch Casserole (also called "Mexican Chicken" around my house). It was one of those "go to" dishes my mom made a lot when I was growing up, and I've always loved it, despite the Velveeta.
Also, fried catfish. It's something that my dad excelled at creating, and I miss his version like crazy.
11. Do any foods bring back bad memories?
Broth and jello.
12. Do any foods remind you of someone?
Quiche reminds me of my grandmother. Purple-hulled peas remind me of my stepfather. Pistachios remind me of my dad. And Whataburger reminds me of Longview.
13. Is there a food you refuse to eat?
Any kind of mammal.
14. What was your favorite food as a child?
Fried shrimp. Apple Jacks.
15. Is there a food that you hated as a child but now like?
Salad.
16. Is there a food that you liked as a child but now hate?
Milk
17. Favorite fruit and vegetable:
Potato, even though that's kind of a cop-out vegetable. But I've never EVER met a potato I didn't like. Next in line? Spinach. Fruit? Those little tangerines that are in season right around Christmas time...Cuties? I could eat 10 of those a day.
18. Favorite junk food:
Doritos. Any flavor.
19. Favorite between meal snack:
Mixed nuts.
20. Do you have any weird food habits?
I eat the entire pickled okra, including the stem.
21. You're on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on?
Tamari rice cakes
22. You're off your diet. Now what would you like?
Cheese and vodka
23. How spicy do you order Indian/Thai?
Medium to "It goes to eleven/Vindaloo Poo."
24. Can I get you a drink?
Yes, please!
25. Red or White Wine?
White (as long as it isn't Chardonnay).
26. Favorite dessert?
Key Lime Pie.
27. The perfect nightcap?
Nice tall cold glass o' agua.
My favorite way? Deviled. My most frequently ordered/prepared way? Scrambled.
2. How do you take your coffee/tea?
Tea, straight up. Coffee, no thank you.

Late to the party.
I'm in Colorado for work. I'm exhausted. But I thought about this meme in the plane all the way up here, and so I decided to do it. Some of my favorite bloggers have already done it some time ago, so I'm a bit behind the curve. But that is typical for me.
In case you've been sleeping, the rules are these:
1. Think of 10 movies you adore, then go to IMDB and get some quotes from those movies.
2. Post these quotes and ask readers to guess what movies they come from. NO GOOGLING OR CHEATING, readers, because that's just lame.
3. NEW RULE: One guess per reader, por favor.
4. Once a correct guess has been made, you credit the reader.
Simple, no?
Okay, let's get started...
(My apologies for the random underlining every now and again. It's a cut and paste thing...)
#1:
“Until you do right by me, everything you even think about gonna fail!”
Damn you, La Turista!! Yes, you DO know me so well. And yes, this is from The Color Purple. I personally love to stick my fingers out toward my enemies and lay this curse on them in my best Celie voice whenever possible.
#2:
“Take this quarter, go downtown, and have a rat gnaw that thing off your face! Good day to you, madam.”
La Turista strikes again. (I accidentally left out the rule where you're only supposed to guess one movie per person...oh well.) Uncle Buck. My very favorite John Candy movie. So sweet. So funny. And this scene? Where Buck tells off the principle at Maisy's school? Classic.
#3:
“Where do you get off behaving that way with women you don't even know, huh? How'd you feel if someone did that to your mother or your sister…or your wife?”
Ahh...Bookhart. This quote is from the scene where they make that obnoxious trucker pull over and then give him a tongue lashing before blowing his big rig away. But I'll never EVER forget laying eyes on Brad Pitt for the first time in Thelma & Louise. I went to see it with La Turista up at the old Lincoln movie theater up by Highland Mall, and I remember we both left the movie breathless. One, because of Brad, but secondly, because we'd never seen a movie about women quite like that.
#4:
When I came out into society I was 15. I already knew then that the role I was condemned to, namely to keep quiet and do what I was told, gave me the perfect opportunity to listen and observe. Not to what people told me, which naturally was of no interest to me, but to whatever it was they were trying to hide. I practiced detachment. I learn how to look cheerful while under the table I stuck a fork onto the back of my hand. I became a virtuoso of deceit. I consulted the strictest moralists to learn how to appear, philosophers to find out what to think, and novelists to see what I could get away with, and in the end it all came down to one wonderfully simple principle: win or die.
Yawn. La Turista. Again. She correctly guessed Dangerous Liaisons. I am a sucker for period films, John Malkovich, Baroque music, and Glenn Close. So the combo? Tres perfectique. I would give a jillion dollars to hoist my boobs up and get into one of those awesome costumes and play a role as meaty as the one Ms. Close owns in this film.
#5:
You know, I used to be in the music business, but now I'm what you might call retired. It's a refined name for bum.
#6:
Main Character: I can't believe it. I've been looking all over for this place. I don't know why, really. I spent a couple of days there when I was a kid, and, and I just remember having a really good time.
Old Motel Clerk: Me, too. My brother and I drowned a cat there once.
Main Character: Is that right?
#7:
Character 1: Do you know what the hell we had to go through after you took the car?
Character 2: Yeah, it was a dick move on my part. That's why I'm paying for your meal. [looks down to count money] Here's 80 for the meal, and 200 for the car
Character 3: What did you do to my car?
Character 2: I made some love stains in the back. You'll see...
Yep, Jaye--it's Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. The best movie about pot and sliders ever made.
#8:
Female: How come you don't play during daytime? I see you here everyday.
Male: During the daytime people would want to hear songs that they know, just songs that they recognize. I play these songs at night or I wouldn't make any money. People wouldn't listen. Female: I listen.
Good call, Tuli. This quote is indeed from Once. I fell utterly in love with Dublin and Glen Hansard in this film. Amazing soundtrack.
#9:
Sicilians are great liars. The best in the world. I'm Sicilian. My father was the world heavy-weight champion of Sicilian liars. From growing up with him I learned the pantomime. There are seventeen different things a guy can do when he lies to give himself away. A guys got seventeen pantomimes. A woman's got twenty, but a guy's got seventeen... but, if you know them, like you know your own face, they beat lie detectors all to hell. Now, what we got here is a little game of show and tell. You don't wanna show me nothin', but you're tellin me everything. I know you know where they are, so tell me before I do some damage you won't walk away from.
The "Anonymous" Jimmy guessed correctly: True Romance. Although super violent, I love this damn movie, for this scene, if for nothing else--Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken at the height of their game, just chewing up the scene.
#10:
Female: God, don't you ever feel like everything we do and everything we've been taught is just to service the future?
Male 1: Yeah I know, like it's all preparation.
Female: Right. But what are we preparing ourselves for?
Male 2: Death.
Male 1: Life of the party.
Male 2: It's true.
Female: You know, but that's valid because if we are all gonna die anyway shouldn't we be enjoying ourselves now? You know, I'd like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor insignificant preamble to something else.
Dazed and Confused it is, Sus. One of the most quotable movies ever, and filmed in Austin, to boot!

Pictures (because I'm too tired to actually write anything).
I'm suffering from severe brain mush syndrome. Work's cranked up to mach 5, and The Geej is wearing me out too. I guess this last birthday really did a number on me, because Internets, I'm feeling OLD and worn the hell out.

So in lieu of actually posting something that might make me have to string together actual words that make a wee bit of sense, my I humbly submit a few images, including some Me/Not Me stuff I forgot to include the first time around.
Enjoy. I'm going to shave my legs and hit the hay.
An absolutely stunning cake that The Geej decorated during our Sunday playdate with the Malcontentettes. It was jolly fun. You gotta hand it to Mama M., she's way more homemakerly than I could ever be. I mean, you should've SEEN the selection of sprinkles this gal had on hand.
A fashion statement made by The Geej. Apparently she did this during the last 30 minutes of school, and wanted to keep it this way so I could see it. Then she wanted me to keep it this way so Earl and all of her babies could see it. And while we were talking to my mom on the phone, she was saying, "Look, Dah! See my chirt?" Man was she ever proud of this innovation.
Speaking of The Geej, I took her to the doctor yesterday due to this persistent cough she's had that suddenly stopped responding altogether to any kind of cough meds, and they weighed her. She still weighs less than 26 lbs. The girl's a wisp.
Okay, now to the me/not me hooey.

Kiss my ass, 2006.
What a year, no? And it's going out with a bang what with The Godfather of Soul, Gerald Ford, and Saddam all biting the dust within a week of one another. I am happy to say that I am actually going out to celebrate the close of this strange year, and I'm super excited. If you've read this blog for any length of time and/or know me personally, you know what a psychotic Xanadu fan I am. So it makes TOTAL sense that I wouldn't be able to pass this event up, right? I mean, come ON!! That shit was made for me!! Plus, I haven't been out for NYE in at least 5 years. I'm not a big New Year's kind of gal anymore. In my twenties, sure. But now it all seems sort of asinine. I'm sure after tonight it will probably be at least another five years before something comes along that's tempting enough to lure me out of the house on NYE. Now I just need to go figure out what the fuck I'm going to wear...
This year was filled with high highs (falling in love with Mr. Wonderful, my promotion at work, making it halfway through potty training The Geej, the Geej's wonderful new school, etc.) and very low lows (the whole hospital ordeal, putting Ellen to sleep). I want next year to bore my socks off. I hope that it is utterly uneventful, but with my track record, I don't see that really happening.
I haven't made any resolutions per se. However, I have figured out a kick ass tattoo I want to get, and I'd like to have it designed and ready to go by April 5th--the date that the Geej's adoption was finalized. And the area of my body where I want this thing to go could use some, uh, firming up. So I guess that's sort of a goal/resolution.
Speaking of The Geej, she did something hilarious yesterday. I was talking with Mr. Wonderful on the phone, and she was playing near by. I told him "shut up" in a playful way, and suddenly, she was walking around saying "Shut UP! Shut UP!" to everything. She walked up to Earl and said, "Shut UP, purring!" And then she continued her tirade by saying, "Shut UP, door!" "Shut UP, Christmas tree!" "Shut UP, window!" And on and on and on. Sigh... That's going to be a hard one to explain she she goes back to school.
I guess I'll finish up this post by doing a fun new meme that Jaye made up.

500th Post!
This is number 500, folks! Yay!! So why not celebrate with a meme? I'm pretty sure La Turista was referring to me when she talked about her weird friends. So, here goes.
6 Weird Things About Karla May
1. When I fill my car up with gas, I always ALWAYS have to make sure the dollar amount ends in either a "5" or a "0." As in, $12.32? Not okay. $12.30 or $12.35, perfect.
2. I love peanuts. I love Snickers bars. I love peanut butter on saltine crackers. But I will NOT eat any kind of peanut flavored food or anything else that has peanuts/peanut butter in or on it.
3. When I laugh really hard, my knees buckle. I literally fall down laughing, and there's nothing I can do about it. I am a total freakin' spaz.
4. There are certain words that I hate the sound of so much that they can make me gag if I hear them.
5. I haven't eaten anything with hooves or fur since 1994. And it's not because I'm some big animal rights person. (Although I have many friends who are, and I respect the hell out of their opinions.) Here's why I made this choice: I figure, if I eat something, I should be willing to kill it. I could never, ever kill a cow, lamb, deer, rabbit, or pig. But I've fished, and would do so again. And if it came down to me and a chicken or turkey, and we were on a desert island? I could take that fowl down.
6. I hope to one day own a goat as a pet.

That really hard meme that all my blogging buddies have been doing.
Now it's my turn, I suppose.
1. You can press a button that will make any one person explode. Who would you blow up?
Karl Rove.
2. You can flip a switch that will wipe any band or musical artist out of existence. Which one will it be?
Toby Keith. Duh.
3. Who would you really like to just punch in the face?
Paris "Lazy Eye/Stinky Crotch" Hilton.
4. What is your favorite cheese?
GOD that’s a hard one. Um…a really good chevre, like Pure Luck Farms.
5. You can only have one kind of sandwich. Every sandwich ingredient known to humankind is at your immediate disposal. What kind will you make?
Leftover smoked turkey breast from Thanksgiving, lots of avocado, German mustard, iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced perfectly ripe Roma tomatoes, and Swiss cheese on lightly toasted whole wheat bread.
6. You have the opportunity to sleep with the movie celebrity of your choice. We are talking no-strings-attached sex and it can only happen once. Who is the lucky celebrity of your choice?
Viggo Mortensen.
7. You have the opportunity to sleep with the music-celebrity of your choice. Who do you pick?
Howe Gelb. But I’d want strings attached.
8. Now that you've slept with two different people in a row, you seem to be having an excellent day because you just came across a hundred-dollar bill on the sidewalk. Holy crap, a hundred bucks! How are you gonna spend it?
An exquisite meal at a really nice restaurant.
9. You just got a free plane ticket to anywhere. You have to depart right now. Where are you gonna go?
Denver (to see Mr. Wonderful). I know. It’s sappy, but it’s true.
10. Upon arrival to the aforementioned location, you get off the plane and discover another hundred-dollar bill. Now that you are in the new location, what are you gonna do?
Use it to supplement the rental of a really swanky hotel room for Mr. Wonderful and I for the night.
11. A demon rises out of Hell and offers you a lifetime supply of the alcoholic beverage of your choice. It is...?
King Estate Pinot Gris
12. Rufus appears out of nowhere with a time-traveling phone booth. You can go anytime in the PAST. What time are you traveling to and what are you going to do when you get there?
1960s London. I’d become an English version of Chrissie Hynde—hailed as a music and fashion pioneer--and I’d somehow end up briefly married to David Bowie.
13. You discover a beautiful island upon which you may build your own society. You make the rules. What is the first rule you put into place?
Everyone gets to sleep as late as they fucking want. And if you’re a “morning person” who wakes up at the crack of dawn and wakes others who are trying to sleep up, you get sent out to sea on a rickety raft.
14. You have been given the opportunity to create the half-hour TV show of your own design. What is it called and what's the premise?
It’s a show called, “You Want the Truth?” Really rich people who are surrounded by “yes men” all the time consult me and ask me the questions that they want to get a 100% honest, no strings attached answer to. The catch is, they HAVE to do whatever I advise.
15. What is your favorite curse word?
Fuck. So simple. So versatile. So perfect.
16. One night you wake up because you heard a noise. You turn on the light to find that you are surrounded by MUMMIES. The mummies aren't really doing anything, they're just standing around your bed. What do you do?
Ask them, “So…are we gonna party, or what?”
17. Your house is on fire! You have just enough time to run in there and grab ONE inanimate object. Don't worry, your loved ones and pets have already made it out safely. So what's the item?
I wish I had something really sentimental to say like, “My great grandmother’s wedding dress. She wore it as she entered Ellis Island.” But no. Sadly, it would probably be my computer hard drive. It’s got my entire iTunes library, every digital photo I’ve ever taken, and a lot of writing and personal documents on it.
18. The Angel of Death has descended upon you. Fortunately, the Angel of Death is pretty cool and in a good mood, and it offers you a half-hour to do whatever you want before you bite it. Whatcha gonna do in that half-hour?
First 20 minutes: Put on my favorite music—LOUDLY—and have crazy sex with Mr. Wonderful. Next 8 minutes, huddle up with The Geej, Mr. Wonderful and my Mom and tell them how much I love all of them. Last 2 minutes, smoke a righteous bowl of weed and eat some Frito's and bean dip.
19. You accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what's even cooler is that they endow you with the super-power of your choice! What's it gonna be?
Teletransportation.
20. You can re-live any point of time in your life. The time-span can only be a half-hour, though. What half-hour of your past would you like to experience again?
The first half hour I spent with The Geej. FINALLY meeting her—just the two of us in the orphanage director’s office on a horribly frigid December night in Russia. Holding her. Smelling her. Thinking to myself, “I can’t believe she’s real.”
21. You can erase any horrible experience from your past. What will it be?
Watching my father die.
22. You got kicked out of the country for being a time-traveling heathen who sleeps with celebrities and has super-powers. But check out this cool stuff... you can move to anywhere else in the world! Bitchin'! What country are you going to live in now?
On a goat farm on the Cornwall coast of England.
23. This question still counts, even for those of you who are under age. You have been eternally banned from every single bar in the world except for ONE. Which one is it gonna be?
Donn’s Depot.
24. Hopefully you didn't mention this in the super-powers question.... If you did, then we'll just expand on that. Check it out... Suddenly, you have gained the ability to FLOAT!!! Whose house are you going to float to first, and be like "Dude, check it out... I can FLOAT!"?
Well, because he only lives about 10 houses away and would get a total kick out of it, I’d have to say my friend Chaz.
25. The constant absorption of magical moonbeams mixed with the radioactive vegetables you consumed earlier has given you the ability to resurrect the dead famous-person of your choice. So which celebrity will you bring back to life?
Gilda Radner
26. The Gates of Hell have opened, and Death appears. As it turns out, Death is actually a pretty cool entity, and happens to be in a fantastic mood. Death offers to return the friend/family-member/person, etc. of your choice to the living world. Who will you bring back?
My dad.
27. What's your theme song?
“But I Did Not” by Howe Gelb
1. You can press a button that will make any one person explode. Who would you blow up?
Karl Rove.
2. You can flip a switch that will wipe any band or musical artist out of existence. Which one will it be?

It's all about Meme.
Right now, there are no words to describe what it's like at work. "Crazy" doesn't cut it. "Manic" is simply too lame. But suffice it to say, I'm up to my nostrils in work and meetings, meetings, meetings. It's driving me nuts. I can't ever get shit done because I'm running from one damn meeting to the next. Part of this frenzy is due to the fact that my crazy-as-a-shithouse-rat boss is leaving the company after 17+ years. This coming Friday is her last day. The rest of the insanity is due to the fact that we have no real idea what's going to happen to our team--we know a big change is coming, but we haven't been told how her leaving is going to impact us.
All of this is to say that, although I want to be original and witty and insightful and whatnot, I simply cannot rally. All I want to do is sit out on my deck, stare out into the darkness, and have a very stiff drink. Or a stiff man. Whatever comes my way. (And as I near my 2 year anniversary of being celibate, I'm guessing that the stiff drink is the more likely companion...)
So I stole this. A meme. Here goes:
A-Z Meme
A - Accent: The East Texas accent is a bizarre animal. George Jones has it. So does Matthew McConaughey. Lady Bird Johnson has it, big time. So it vacillates between genteel deep south and inbred redneck. And then there are those of us who had the shit scared out of us by our voice coaches in theatre school who told us we'd be typecast as truckstop waitresses and abused wives if we didn't lose some our drawl. Let's just say, I have a love/hate relationship with my accent.
B - Breakfast Item: (Not every day, because I'd be the size of a Mini Cooper, but ultimate breakfast food), migas.
C - Chore you hate: Is shaving your legs technically a "chore?"
D - Dad's Name: James Austin. I briefly considered naming my daughter "James."
E - Essential everyday item: Gum.
F - Flavour ice cream: Mint/chocolate chip
G - Gold or Silver?: Silver
H - Hometown: Longview. County seat of Gregg County, Texas.
I - Insomnia: Primarily when I'm stressed. I usually have no problem getting to sleep, it's staying asleep that I can't do. Ambien is a wonderful, wonderful thing.
J - Job Title: Project and Communications Coordinator
K - Kids: One. The Geej. Nearly 18 mos. old. Amazing little person. More beautiful than I could've ever imagined. Smarter than me. A gift from God.
L - Living arrangements: Me. The Geej. The old lady cat. The young boy cat. A house that we just moved in to in November. The first place I've ever owned.
M - Mum's birthplace: Kilgore, TX. Home of the world famous Rangerettes!!
N - Number of significant others: Do toddlers count? If so, one. If not, zero. ZERO.
O - Overnight hospital stays: Three. All gynecological. All a TOTAL blast*. (*Not a blast. At all.)
P - Phobia: Roaches/"Water bugs" And eels. I fucking can't even visualize an eel with out getting the heebie jeebies. And you'd think that Unagi would be the ultimate revenge. But I can barely read that word on the menu without breaking into a cold sweat.
Q - Queer?: Experimented? Yes. Decided it was for me? No. Respect the shit out of it? Yes.
R - Religious Affiliation: None, really. Had the whole Southern Baptist thing growing up. Have had interest in Judaism and Universalist Unitarianism as an adult. Haven't pursued either with any kind of conviction.
S-Siblings: None. But apparently my mom had a 2nd trimester miscarriage before me. A boy.
T - Time you wake up: Weekdays--5:55am. Weekends--as late as The Geej will let me sleep. Usually 7:45-ish.
U - Unnatural hair colours you've worn: If you count my wig collection--aqua, violet, firetruck red, platinum, royal blue, pink, magenta, black, If you count my adventures into actual haircolor, there are many: platinum, dark aubergine w/hot pink streaks, dark brown with bright red streaks, dark auburn with platinum streaks, basic auburn, bright red. If it's in the red or blonde color spectrum, I've done it.
V - Vegetable you refuse to eat: Beets.
W - Worst Habit: God, there are so many. I'll just grab in to my mental grab bag...um, ooh! What have we got here?! Oh..."Being Lazy." That's right folks: Any spare moment I can grab, I'm lying on the couch, gazing at the ceiling. I call it "down time." But really, it's time when I could be doing Pilates, or curing cancer, or sewing on buttons. So really, I'm just being lazy.
X - X-rays youÂve had: Teeth. Neck. Foot.
Y - Yummy: Anything that has any one the following ingredients: Avocado. Salt. Cheese. A fried substance. So, like a skinned avocado, rolled in sea salt, dipped in batter, fried and covered in cheese would probably cause me to have a stoke with delight.
Z - Zodiac sign: Aquarius. Don't believe me?

All I want to do is sit out on my deck, stare out into the darkness, and have a very stiff drink. Or a stiff man. Whatever comes my way. That is the "water bearer." The symbol of Aquarius. It's (of course) on my lower back area. So typical, right? But I assure you: the circumstances around me getting this tattoo are not typical at all. But that's fodder for another post...
Night, night Freaks.

I'm it.
Apparently, I've been "tagged." Not with spray paint on my substantially sized posterior, mind you, but metaphorically "tagged" in blog-speak. This is a new phenomenon to me. What happens is, someone, somewhere in Blogland thinks up five interesting questions, and then passes them along to (tags, as it were) another blogger with them. So my only blog buddy, the Texpatriate has now tagged me. So here goes:
1. Total amount of music files on your computer?
4864 songs; 12.9 days; 31.1 GB
And this is my work computer. So the fact that I've eaten up 95% of my memory with music is pretty funny. I'm stickin' it to the man!!
2. The last CD you bought was...
I bought three at once, actually: Alpinestars "White Noise," Rufus Wainright, "Want Two," Innocence Mission, "Now the Day is Over"
3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
The Louvin Brothers, "If I Could Only Win Your Love." It was playing on KOOP's Tuesday morning show, "Country Roots." I gotta say, for a small city, Austin has some rather good independent radio. KOOP's morning programming alone is worth a yearly membership to support this station. "The Country Swing and Rockabilly Jamboree?" Awesome. "Soul Sauce?" Kick ass. "The Lounge Show?" Terrific.
4. Write down five songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Man, this is a hard one. Just five? Jeez. If I seek out a particular song to listen to, it's for one of three reasons: a) PERFORMANCE: I wanna sing it at the top of my lungs, b) MOOD ALTERATION/ENHANCEMENT: I'm feeling sad and want to cry my eyes out to a sad/meaningful song OR I'm feeling sad and a want a good song to cheer me up, c) BODY MOVIN', GITCHER BODY MOVIN': I wanna rock out and/or dance my butt off like the uncoordinated goob that I am.
So the following list represents a little bit of all of these reasons.
1- "Cracklin' Water" by Giant Sand.
Howe Gelb is a fucking genius. A fucking SEXY genius. If you listen to this song really loudly with your headphones on, you feel like he's whispering in your ear. I just love this man.
2- "Untitled" off of Green by R.E.M.
"...and keep her strong, while I'm away from here..."--THIS song has become a prayer to me. I listen to it all the time with The Geej in mind.
3- "Alone Again Or" by Calexico
An amazing remake of the song by 70s group "Love." (It was also covered by The Damned at one point.) I dare you to listen to this song and not feel that happy, variety show feeling by the end. 95% of what Calexico does is flawless. This band is one of my favorites.
4-"Every Hour Here" by The Innocence Mission
A song about realizing that God is always with you, even if you don't realize it. Not preachy, just lovely. And Karen Peris's voice is ethereal and dazzling.
5- "Hush" by Tool
It starts out with the singer screaming, "FUUUK YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!" at the top of his lungs. The kind of thing that make mothers ship their kids away to military school for listening to. Maynard James Keenan and company at their raw, scary best. Anything off of this album immediately transports me to a time in my life when it was all about sex, drugs and rock-and-roll. In other words, an absurdly irresponsible and fun and dangerous time that seems a gazillion years ago.
5. What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?
Um, I don't have any real "blog friends" other than the person who sent this to me originally. At least I don't think I do... So, I'm going to tag random bloggers who've posted comments on my site: Like this chick, and this guy and this gal in the off chance they check in with the old Pine Curtain Refugee from time to time. TAG, YOU'RE IT!

Forced Creativity/Disclosure

Not feeling all that inspired lately. Is it the foggy, crappy weather? I'm not sure. So I'm basically just going to copy what my blogging cohort the Texpatriate has done. She's my idol, so I don't feel weird copying her. I'm kind of like Jamie Lynn to her Britney. So enjoy. Or not. But here goes:
